Don’t let the title mislead you – it may sound a little…scary but it is actually a positive change in your life. Not only for you but always for people around you – these who really care for you.

Answer a few questions here. How often do you worry about other problems more than your own? Do you like helping your children, grandchildren, family, and friends? Their problems are keeping you awake and bothering you? How often you worry about others opinion or criticism? Are you assertive?

I am pretty sure that more than of these questions has got the „yes” answer. What is your first conclusion at that point?

Think about yourself

Every one of us is, and should be an egoist. Even if it may bring some negative connotation it’s actually a positive thing. Especially in our crazy times of rush and consumerism. Caring about others more than yourself is very noble but also destructive. You should sometimes just think about yourself and your needs. Think about what do you feel and what do you feel like doing. Then do it and enjoy it. So many times you’ve helped somebody – why won’t you help yourself?

Sometimes, let yourself to go a little crazy. Don’t mind about others opinion. It’s your life and nobody should be deciding about it for you. Only by living in total harmony with yourself you would be happy. Only by staying happy you can enjoy good health.

Be aware of your needs

You need to know what do you want from your life. What really makes you happy? What are your goals – for now, and long-term? Work on them and enjoy every little success. You can’t live only by looking at the successes of the people around you. You should also remember that your family and friends really want to see you being happy.

Matured age cannot mean giving up on your dreams. What’s best may be still waiting for you, if you only want to. Think about it and create ambitious goals. Never look for excuses. Never think that you are too old for anything. These are the barriers in your mind. Nothing is really impossible.

Assertiveness is a key

One of the most important parts of your social life should assertiveness. Learn how to say „no”. Remember, that it’s you who decide about everything in your life. Your own needs should be the most important for you at that point. Just try and say „no” sometimes. You won’t hurt anybody. It’s just the opposite – you would show people around you that you are also important and your needs matter.

Others opinion is not what’s the most important

You shouldn’t completely ignore it but remember, that the final decision is always on you. Don’t let the hate hurt you. Today, everybody wants to be experts at everything – from diet, thought fashion, to business. Everybody knows best and want to criticize to have a feeling that you should follow their opinion. You shouldn’t. Your own decisions and opinions are the most important because it’s you who is going to face their consequences. Be honest with yourself and follow your heart.

Nobody wants to be called an egoist but you know now, that it is actually not that bad. It’s all about caring about yourself. It doesn’t mean that you need to forget about the others. You don’t have to stop helping them and be caring. You just need to keep the harmony between your own, and their needs.

Trust me – it’s a way to the better mood and finally – a better life. Little change that would bring great advantages. You can be sure that people around you would also enjoy this change. They would be able to enjoy seeing you being happier and healthier, and being loved by you for long years.
