Environmental requirements slowly, but consistently force car manufacturers to take drastic steps. It is not different with Porsche Cayenne GTS, which instead of a huge 4.8 V8 engine has received the newest drive unit available, namely the 3.6-liter, 4.8 twin-turbo V6.
New Porsche Cayenne GTS reaches 100km per hour within 5,2 seconds, or 5,1 should its driver opt for the Sport Chrono package. Top speed is 262km/h. Any other novelties?
A new exhaust system with, according to its producer, a more ‘raw’ sound, modified suspension equipped with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), ground clearance reduced by 24mm, and bigger brakes – 390mm in diameter in the front, and 359mm in the back.
The exterior consists of extra features characteristic to this series, like bigger grille, numerous tips, aerodynamic elements, modified side strips, extended wheel arches covering 20″ rims or four exhaust tips. Inside we find Alcantra sport seats. Same textile is to be seen on steering wheel, gear stick, etc. Price? In Germany, Porsche Cayenne GTS costs at least 98 153 Euro.

Porsche Cayenne Diesel
The perfect car. Prestigious, comfortable, well-made, incredibly fast and amazingly efficient. Competent on a freeway, as well as on poor quality roads.
To recognize a turbocharged diesel under the hood is an outstandingly difficult task. The engine compartment has been greatly muted, but exhaust pipes purr in a way that puts to shame even a gasoline V8.
It is a greatly looking SUV with details that remind the car belongs to the Porsche family. Massive doors protect the entrance to the vast driver’s compartment. There is efficient space for five adults and 670 liters of baggage. Up to 1780 liters after folding back rear seats. The possibility to put a safety net right behind the front seats and 740kg of carrying capacity enables taking advantage of such an impressive amount of space.
The ignition switch is to be found on the left side of the steering wheel. Quality and precision are arguably top-notch. The ergonomics is flawless, although becoming familiar with the amount of buttons on the central console may take some time.
Porsche, being a Premium brand, equips Cayenne in everything that is essential, making it a base product. Of course, each and every customer receives a vast range of optional add-ons as well. Larger wheels, ceramic brakes, 100 liter fuel tank, leather upholstery, carbon fiber inlay in the drivers compartment, decorative exhaust tips…
Porsche two diesel engines in offer for Cayenne. Cayenne Diesel receives a 3.0 V6 engine, providing 245 horsepower and 550 Nm. A 0-100km/h sprint is in this case a matter of 7,6s. Those who wish to drive faster must invest in Cayenne S Diesel with a 4.2 V8 Diesel engine. Twin-turbo pushes it to reach 382 horsepower with 3750 rpm and 850 Nm with 2000-2750 rpm. The construction of the engine known from, among others, Audi A8, has been improved to achieve perfection. An extra amount of power (35 horsepower) and torque (50 Nm) has been obtained by an increased charge pressure, larger intercooler from Cayenne Turbo, new exhaust system and reprogrammed computer. Porsche pays special attention to charge pressure – 2,9 bar is a top value amongst mass produced turbo diesels.
The motor is only produced with an automatic, eight gear Tiptronic S gearbox. As this is a classic “auto gearbox” and not a twin clutch transmission, even under a lot of pressure gear changing goes smoothly. During its test drives, Cayenne S Diesel, moving along curvy roads of the Black Forest and German freeways with speed often above 200km/h has used only as much as 10,5 liters per 100 kilometers.
Price? At least 92 583 Euro.
